It would be ideal if patients could brush and floss after every time they ate and drank anything other than water. If they do not have access to a toothbrush and floss then rinsing their mouth well with water could help improve their hygiene. Using a proxy brush (see above photo) underneath the archwires, in between each bracket, helps improve hygiene tremendously. Patients should add this to their daily oral hygiene regimen.
